What is the opportunity?

A role in the Rating Team that is an integral part of the C&MO Team within the European Corporate Finance Division 2 (ECBD2). They manage, monitor and control the Department\'s corporate & leveraged finance ratings, ensuring the timely preparation and submission of ratings for ECBD2 clients. This role would primarily be responsible for the production of ratings using the internal models of Mizuho, but would also interface with the wider C&MO Team.

What will you be doing?

  • Produce timely and accurate credit ratings
  • Undertake analysis to establish initial rating of new transactions using audited accounts, financial due diligence, model and commercial due diligence, working closely with the relevant Credit Analyst
  • Credit risk monitoring and the preparation of annual and special reviews
  • Ensure early identification of potential credit quality issues
  • Assist with overall general portfolio management and reporting duties – this entails day‑to‑day administration of a number of clients within the Department\'s portfolio
  • Ensure compliance with the bank\'s rating manual, accurately applying rating and customer categorisation methodologies

What do you need to succeed?

Essential

  • Minimum 3 \'A\' Levels or equivalent
  • Minimum of at least two-year experience in a financial environment, preferably in banking
  • A proven ability to analyse and interpret company financial statements and discounted cashflow models
  • Ability to work fast and accurately whilst under pressure
  • Strong writing and communication skills required to be able to liaise with internal stakeholders / other Departments within the Bank
  • Good team working and communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills required to be able to multitask day‑to‑day duties across the Team
  • Financial spreadsheets / accounting knowledge including accounting standards

Desirable

  • Degree qualified or equivalent
  • Cash flow analysis / modelling skills
  • Experience in a middle or back office role within a Financial Institution
  • Experience/ability with VBA for writing automations within Excel/ innovative mindset
  • Demonstrated experience in automating workflows and enhancing efficiency through tools such as Excel, VBA, SQL, or Python; strong ability to identify manual or repetitive tasks and implement innovative, scalable solutions to streamline operations

Adaptability

  • A requirement to respond to changing priorities within the role
  • Capacity to plan, organise and manage workloads independently
  • Proven ability to take initiative and solve complex rating scenarios independently of team leader
  • Utilise changing systems or procedures
