As Jira Platform Engineer you will build, implement and take ownership of our enterprise-wide Jira platform. This role is largely hands-on, and you will work with an agreed architectural design to deliver the solution end-to-end, including workflows, data models, automations, integrations and APIs. You will play a key role in implementation, as well as in the ongoing ownership, governance, optimisation and continuous improvement of the platform once live. You will be comfortable working across the Atlassian ecosystem, including Jira, Jira Service Management, Jira Work Management and Jira Assets, creating a scalable, integrated platform that supports teams across VoCoVo.
A critical element of this role will focus on the design and build of integrations with external systems (such as HubSpot) using APIs, helping establish Jira as a central operational platform and trusted source of truth. The successful candidate will also support the onboarding of teams and help embed new ways of working across VoCoVo, ensuring the platform delivers long-term value and adoption.
What We're Looking For
- Deep hands-on experience building and configuring Jira platforms from the ground up, beyond day-to-day administration of existing environments.
- Experience across the Atlassian ecosystem, including Jira Service Management, Jira Work Management, Jira Assets and related plugins/tools.
- Previous experience building and scaling Jira as an enterprise-wide platform across multiple business functions.
- Experience in the design and implementation of integrations and APIs, particularly with external systems such as CRM, ERP or WMS platforms.
- Strong experience integrating Jira with platforms such as HubSpot or similar business systems.
- An excellent understanding of data architecture, relational linking and scalable system design principles.
- Experience using advanced Atlassian tooling and plugins such as ScriptRunner, Automation and Assets/Insight.
- Successfully implemented governance, standards and control frameworks within Jira environments.
- Ability to take architectural designs and translate them into scalable, robust, real-world solutions.
- Ability to onboard teams and drive adoption of new tools, processes and ways of working.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work confidently across both technical and non-technical teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience using Atlassian Confluence for documentation, collaboration and knowledge management.
- Familiarity with ITSM frameworks such as ITIL.
- Experience integrating Jira with ERP, WMS or BI platforms such as Power BI.
- Previous experience operating within a high-growth or scaling technology environment.
- Exposure to operational reporting, data visualisation and dash-boarding solutions.
What You'll Do
- Build and implement the Jira platform end-to-end in line with the agreed enterprise architecture.
- Configure and implement all workflows, issue types, fields, permissions and automations.
- Design and implement Jira Service Management, Jira Work Management and Jira Assets solutions.
- Build and manage integrations and APIs, including connections with systems such as HubSpot.
- Take ownership of all data structures, relationships and system design within Jira and Assets.
- Act as the gatekeeper for structural platform changes, ensuring consistency, scalability and best practice.
- Develop scalable templates, reusable components and standardised approaches to support teams across VoCoVo.
- Onboard teams through training, guidance and embedding new ways of working.
- Translate business and departmental requirements into effective solutions aligned to the wider enterprise model.
- Continuously improve, optimise and evolve the platform post-implementation.
- Establish and maintain best practices for Jira usage, governance, administration and long-term platform ownership.
What Does Success Look Like?
- 3-6 months: Core Jira platform successfully built and deployed, not just configured. JSM, JWM and Assets fully implemented with clear cross-functional use cases. Key integrations are live and functioning reliably. Standardised data structures and workflows embedded across initial departments. Strong adoption with teams actively using the platform. Governance model established with controlled, high-quality change management.
- Longer term: Jira operates as a fully integrated enterprise platform and single source of truth. Seamless data flow between Jira and external systems via APIs. High data integrity and consistent usage across all departments. Scalable framework supporting business growth and new use cases. Full adoption of JSM, JWM and Assets across VoCoVo. Measurable reduction in operational inefficiencies through automation and system design.
Salary £72,000 per year with an 8-month fixed-term contract equivalent of £48,000.
Benefits
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays (increases with years of service)
- Option to buy or sell 5 days holiday each year
- Sick pay – 8 weeks full pay, 4 weeks half pay
- Life assurance – (4 times basic pay)
