Job Description
Your Role: Broadcast Journalist (London)
Global\'s Newsroom in London needs a journalist with a fantastic broadcast voice and exceptional writing skills to be part of our team. The successful candidate should have plenty of broadcast journalism experience in a radio newsroom, including writing and reading news bulletins, selecting and pushing key news from guest interviews, and audio editing. You will also need a solid understanding of key aspects of media law.
Key Responsibilities
As a Broadcast Journalist at Global, you will:
- You\'ll be writing and reading news bulletins for LBC - Britain\'s biggest commercial news talk brand
- Curating original content for our rolling news station LBC News, alongside bulletins for the UK\'s biggest radio brands like Heart, Capital, and Smooth.
Think Big: We tell the biggest stories of the day in engaging and creative ways for audiences across Global\'s platforms
Own It: Pushing our original and exclusive stories, building on our track record for delivering standout journalism
Keep it Simple: Telling stories in an accessible, concise and conversational way for our audiences
Better Together: Working alongside a talented team of newsreaders, producers and presenters to create outstanding broadcast and digital content
What Success Looks Like
In your first few months, you\'ll have:
- Grasped the news agenda and produced stand-out content on some of the nation\'s biggest radio brands
- Established yourself as a trusted voice to our audiences
- Set the standard in the quality of output across our newsroom, having learnt the Global\'s Newsroom style.
The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:
- Content: Delivering standout, OFCOM-compliant content which routinely meets and exceeds Global standards
- Ownership: Understanding the importance of tailored content across our brand portfolio and be capable of taking ownership for all editorial decisions with those diverse audiences in mind
- Fast thinking: Responding to changing situations and problem-solving under pressure, to ensure our output is always of the highest standard in all circumstances
- Flexibility: News happens 24/7 - this isn\'t a \'normal\' office job and flexibility is key. This role will include working across weekends and regular overnight shifts.
