As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Mott MacDonald Bentley, you will contribute to projects that significantly impact our environment and communities. Working primarily in the UK water market, you will help deliver the feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning services needed to keep water flowing and wastewater treated, from concept design to commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design of water and wastewater infrastructure and non‑infrastructure projects through outline and detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover, including P&IDs, valve schedules, pump calculations, safe access and lifting arrangements, and above‑ground pipework layouts.
  • Coordinate with the project team comprising Electrical, Civil, Geotechnical and Process designers to ensure designs are completed on programme, within budget, and to the quality defined by framework specifications.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design stages, construction and beyond.
  • Engage positively with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one‑team approach to support their aims.
  • Support the development of the mechanical engineering team, coaching and mentoring engineers to develop their skill set and identifying the correct resources for the projects.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Chartered or incorporated member of a professional institution (e.g. ICE, IMechE) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in water/wastewater engineering.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Methodical problem‑solving approach.
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites within your operational region.
