Responsibilities
Overall purpose of the role
Reporting to the Finance Manager (Fixed Assets, Leases & Property), the Fixed Assets Assistant will maintain the fixed asset register and look after equipment leases. They will manage two important mailboxes and assist with regular and ad-hoc reporting.

Performance
- Manage the fixed assets inbox to ensure helpful and timely responses, seeking assistance from the team if unable to answer any queries
- Maintenance of fixed asset register including uploading of additions, disposals and asset transfer files, ensuring that assets are not duplicated
- Monthly reconciliation and reporting of asset ledger, including assistance with preparing fixed asset notes for Group reporting and financial statements
- Run monthly depreciation and post into SAP
- Ensure all capex projects created and fixed assets assigned have the correct authorisation and are valid capital assets assigned to the correct capex project
- Assist with maintenance of the IFRS16 (right-of-use assets) database and change log and make sure any new equipment lease requests have the correct forms/approvals
- Maintain equipment leases control account
- Management of Medirest mailbox to assist Compass One with Property related items, take ownership of franchise fees and utilities
- Complete and submit ONS capex survey to Government
- Assistance with carbon footprint reporting
- Maintain process notes for all business-as-usual work to enable cross training, cover and support within the team
- Cross train other team members
Qualifications
Essential
- Finance-related degree or some experience working in a finance related role
- Must be willing to commit to actively studying and qualifying in a reasonable time frame
- Basic Excel skills (common formulae etc)
- Good organisational and presentational skills
- Flexible and adaptable in this busy, evolving environment
- Continuous improvement mindset to question current processes
Desirable
- Intermediate Excel skills (common formulae, pivot tables etc)
- Experience of balance sheet reconciliations
- Experience of month end (accruals, prepayments, variance analysis etc)
- Experience of ERP software, SAP preferred
- Experience of working with fixed assets
