Summary of the Senior Project Manager role:
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Building Services Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex building services projects across diverse sectors. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful integration of mechanical, electrical, public health, and sustainable systems, while also providing leadership to junior project managers and engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Mechanical & Electrical project management, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and a proven ability to deliver high-value projects on time and within budget.
Senior Project Manager Deliverables / Outcomes (include but are not limited to):
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex building services (Mechanical & Electrical) projects from inception to completion.
- Develop and oversee project strategies, budgets, timelines, and risk management plans.
- Direct and coordinate internal teams, subcontractors, consultants, and client stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
- Ensure all technical work meets quality, compliance, and performance standards, including local building codes and sustainability requirements.
- Lead client meetings and provide expert guidance on technical and delivery matters.
- Manage project reporting, forecasting, and commercial controls, including contract administration and cost control.
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and performance management to project engineers and junior managers.
- Drive value engineering, innovation, and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate closely with design teams to resolve technical issues and optimise system performance.
- Ensure that health, safety, and environmental standards are met or exceeded across all projects.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
- Degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 810+ years of progressive experience managing building services/M&E projects in a senior capacity.
- Demonstrable experience in delivering high-value, technically complex projects (commercial, healthcare, residential, industrial, or mixed-use).
- Strong working knowledge of relevant building regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., CIBSE, BREEAM, LEED).
- Skilled in project planning tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6, BIM platforms such as Revit or Navisworks).
- Proven leadership, people management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong commercial acumen and experience with contract forms (e.g., NEC, JCT, FIDIC).
- Chartered status or working towards (e.g., CEng with CIBSE, IMechE, or IET) is highly desirable.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- High-level communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to operate effectively under pressure and manage multiple complex priorities.
