Summary of the Procurement & Commercial Director role:
Our client is seeking a high-impact Interim Procurement & Commercial Director with deep expertise in supply chain management and a sharp commercial mindset. This pivotal role will lead the transformation of end-to-end supply chain operations, focusing on embedding robust procurement and contracting processes, mentoring and upskilling the existing team, and driving measurable improvements in performance, efficiency, cost transparency, and control. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader who brings structure, pace, and discipline, ensuring the supply chain functions as a strategic enabler of business success.
Procurement & Commercial Director Deliverables / Outcomes (include but are not limited to):
- Margin Improvement: Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives across the supply chain, enhance commercial terms, and drive efficiencies that directly contribute to improved profit margins.
- Establishment of True Cost-to-Serve: Develop and embed methodologies to accurately capture and analyse the full cost-to-serve across products, services, and customer segments, enabling data-driven decision-making and pricing strategies.
- End-to-End Supply Chain Management: Lead the optimisation of supply chain operations, ensuring seamless integration from procurement through to delivery, with a focus on agility, resilience, and performance.
- Commercial Compliance & Governance: Strengthen contract management processes and ensure adherence to commercial policies, regulatory standards, and risk controls, promoting transparency and accountability.
- Team Development & Capability Building: Mentor and upskill the existing team, fostering a high-performance culture and building long-term capability through structured training, coaching, and leadership support.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years experience in procurement, supply chain, or commercial leadership roles, ideally within mobile engineering, infrastructure, or field-based service environments.
- Demonstrable senior-level experience leading end-to-end supply chain operations, with a strong track record in strategic sourcing, contract management, and supplier performance optimisation.
- Proven ability to operate effectively in mobile engineering environments, with a clear understanding of operational delivery models, cost drivers, and logistical complexities.
- Commercially astute, with hands-on experience in margin enhancement through cost-to-serve analysis, process improvement, and commercial renegotiation.
- Gravitas and credibility to lead challenging conversations with internal and external stakeholders, while consistently delivering constructive, business-aligned outcomes.
- Strong leadership and team development capabilities, with a history of mentoring and upskilling commercial and supply chain teams to build long-term capability.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organisation and drive cross-functional alignment.
