Summary of the Technical Building Services Manager role:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Building Services Manager to oversee the maintenance and operation of building services systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) systems, ensuring that all building services meet compliance standards, operate efficiently, and contribute to the overall sustainability and safety of the facility.
Technical Building Services Manager Deliverables / Outcomes (include but are not limited to):
Facilities & Building Services Management:
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of M&E systems; Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC); lighting; fire protection; and security systems.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations, including statutory inspections and certifications.
- Implement and manage planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance programs.
- Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) to optimise building performance and energy efficiency.
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for system faults and failures.
Project & Compliance Management:
- Manage capital improvement projects, refurbishments, and system upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, safety standards, and energy efficiency regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and audits, and ensure adherence to HSE policies.
- Work with external contractors, engineers, and consultants to oversee project execution.
- Supervise in-house maintenance teams and coordinate with external service providers.
- Manage contracts, procurement, and performance of third-party vendors.
- Provide technical guidance and training to staff on new technologies and industry best practices.
Budgeting & Cost Control:
- Develop and manage facility operations and maintenance budgets.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through energy management and operational efficiencies.
- Ensure cost-effective procurement of spare parts, equipment, and services.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications Needed:
- Extensive experience in technical facilities management, M&E systems, and maintenance operations.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, fire safety, and energy management systems.
- Familiarity with BMS (Building Management Systems), Smart Building Technologies, and sustainability initiatives.
- Ability to manage projects, budgets, compliance, and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience in commercial, industrial, or healthcare facilities.
