Summary of the Interim FM Senior Project Manager role:

Our client is seeking an experienced interim FM Senior Project Manager to lead and deliver a diverse portfolio of facilities, infrastructure and capital projects within a Programme Management Office environment. The role will take responsibility for multiple projects through the full project lifecycle, from initial planning and business case development through procurement, design and delivery to completion, handover and post-project review. Projects will range from smaller-scale improvements of approximately £100k through to major capital works of up to £10m, requiring strong project controls, commercial and financial management, governance and stakeholder coordination. The successful candidate will work across a complex operational estate, leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors and specialist resources to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. This is a senior, hands-on interim assignment requiring an experienced Project Manager who can quickly take ownership of multiple concurrent workstreams while maintaining effective control of programme, cost, risk, procurement and compliance. The successful candidate will also contribute to strategic asset planning, continuous improvement and the development of robust project management and governance practices.

Interim FM Senior Project Manager - Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex facilities, infrastructure and capital projects from planning and design through execution, completion and operational handover.
  • Develop and maintain effective change-control processes covering project scope, budget, programme and deliverables.
  • Establish and maintain robust project controls, including programmes, milestones, cost baselines and appropriate delivery methodologies, monitoring performance against agreed time, cost and quality requirements.
  • Manage project budgets and financial performance, including cost forecasting, expenditure monitoring, variance management and corrective actions where required.
  • Develop and maintain business cases, assessing project benefits, costs, risks and value for money to support informed investment decisions.
  • Contribute to strategic asset management planning, supporting long-term operational resilience, sustainability and effective investment in the estate.
  • Develop procurement strategies and manage tender processes for contractors, materials and equipment, including bid evaluation, contract negotiation and value-for-money considerations.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, working across Facilities Management, engineering, finance, procurement and health.
