Summary of the Mechanical Supervisor Role: Our client is seeking a Mechanical Supervisor to support the day-to-day delivery of mechanical maintenance on a busy, site-based contract in Milton Hill. Reporting to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager, you will supervise planned and reactive works, ensuring activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This is a hands-on role, coordinating engineers and contractors on site, prioritising workloads, and ensuring compliance with site procedures and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise day-to-day maintenance activities (PPM and reactive works).
- Ensure all work is completed safely, in line with site procedures and regulations.
- Act as the site lead for mechanical systems, including pressure systems where applicable.
- Manage and support a team of 5 engineers and subcontractors on site.
- Plan and prioritise workloads to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
- Issue and control permits to work and ensure safe isolation procedures (LOTO) are followed.
- Conduct regular checks on completed work to ensure quality and compliance.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the team and client.
- Maintain accurate records using CAFM/asset management systems (e.g. Planon).
- Liaise with the client and stakeholders, providing updates and resolving issues.
- Assist with minor works, including estimating labour and materials.
- Participate in call-out rota when required.
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with health & safety regulations.
- Prepare and review risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
- Oversee safe systems of work, including permits and isolations.
- Monitor contractor compliance and site safety standards.
- Ensure team competence and identify training needs.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
Essential:
- Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in a mechanical or building services discipline.
- Background in mechanical/building services maintenance.
- Proven experience supervising engineers or small teams.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical plant.
- Good understanding of safe systems of work (PTW, LOTO, RAMS).
- Experience working in a customer-facing environment.
- Ability to prioritise and manage workloads.
Desirable:
- Experience working with CAFM systems (e.g. Planon, Maximo).
- Knowledge of BMS operation.
- Experience across multi-site or complex environments.
- Legionella (L8) awareness.
- Authorised Person (Mechanical/Pressure Systems).
- Commercial Gas or F-Gas qualifications.
