Our client, a leading provider of Hard Facilities Management (FM) services, is seeking a Graduate Building Services Engineer to join their team. This role is crucial for preparing competitive tenders, quotations, and cost plans, supporting the company's growth and commitment to client satisfaction. The Graduate Building Services Engineer will work with a Senior Estimator and collaborate with clients, business development, and engineering teams to deliver tailored building services solutions. The role focuses on designing and executing successful projects while ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.

Deliverables / Outcomes:

  • Tender Preparation: Analyse tender documents to identify requirements, risks, and opportunities. Prepare clear and accurate price build-ups for FM (M&E) tenders. Coordinate with Procurement to source value-for-money supply chain quotations. Conduct site inspections to gather detailed information for tenders. Estimate labour and subcontractor costs using specifications like SFG20 and BICS. Review TUPE data with HR to ensure accurate pricing. Finalise tenders with internal teams (including Commercial, Operations, and Finance).
  • Post-Tender Activities: Present pricing assumptions, risks, and opportunities during post-tender meetings. Lead value engineering discussions with clients and teams. Communicate successful tender details to Business Development for handover.
  • General Support: Provide pricing support for Small Works Orders (SWOs) and Call-Off Works (CWOs). Assist with material selection, negotiate purchases, and propose cost-effective alternatives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency. Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies. Share insights to strengthen internal solutions and maintain competitiveness.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications Needed:

  • Degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional accreditation (e.g. CIBSE, IMechE) is a plus.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical systems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a client-focused approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Location: St Albans / Hybrid Working

Start date: Immediate

Duration: Permanent

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)
