Do you want to use your skills to make it possible for people with myeloma to live longer and better lives? We are looking for a talented and knowledgeable Senior Research Grants Officer to join our Research Team. You will have experience of managing a programme of medical research grant funding in line with sector best practice, including patient and public involvement and engagement (PPI) as well as experience of project management within a health research environment.

The role holder will have a broad understanding of the academic and clinical research environment and the principles of effective communication and relationship building. You’ll have excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels, while being a problem solver with the ability to convey complex technical information to a non-specialist audience. Demonstrated experience of managing a programme of medical research grant funding in line with the Association of Medical Research Charities principles of expert peer review would be an advantage but not essential.

Our portfolio of grant funded research programmes and projects play an important role in achieving our strategic objectives. These programmes aim to discover and share new knowledge, support the development of clinical trials and answer questions of unmet need in myeloma. The post holder will lead on the day-to-day management of the portfolio, in line with Myeloma UK procedures to ensure compliance with Association of Medical Research Charities guidance, sector best practice and charity financial requirements covering the complete lifecycle of research grants as well as providing a key secretariat function to Myeloma UKs Research Advisory Group (RAG).

You will ensure that grant holders deliver on contractual milestones and manage high level relationships with Principal Investigators, wider research team members and other relevant external stakeholders. As a member of the Research and Advocacy Directorate, the Senior Research Grants Officer will contribute towards the delivery of the charity’s strategic, operational, and departmental plans.
