We are seeking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and compassionate Head of Boarding to lead our thriving boarding community within a co‑educational 4–18 independent school in beautiful North Wales. This is a key leadership role, requiring excellent pastoral instincts, strong organisational skills and the ability to inspire confidence in pupils, staff and families. Our boarding provision is at the heart of school life, welcoming pupils from the UK and overseas. The successful candidate will ensure that the boarding experience is warm, structured, enriching and aligned with the values of the whole school. You will lead a committed team of boarding staff and play a significant role in shaping an environment where young people feel supported, safe and able to flourish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and day to day management of all boarding operations
  • Promote the highest standards of pastoral care, safeguarding and wellbeing
  • Develop and lead a cohesive, effective team of boarding staff

The Ideal Candidate

  • Significant experience in boarding education or pastoral leadership
  • Excellent knowledge of the BSA standards and some prior knowledge of the UKVI system
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Resilience, energy and the ability to work calmly under pressure
  • A genuine commitment to the holistic development of young people

Residential Position & Benefits

This is a residential position and includes daytime, evening and some weekend responsibilities during term time. Our boarding staff currently work through the half term breaks as our boarders can remain on site during these school breaks. A furnished one bedroom flat is available on site with a separate entrance enabling the keeping of pets. All meals are provided. Salary is dependent on experience; there is also the opportunity for some part‑time teaching or sports coaching if the candidate is suitably qualified.
