Role and Responsibilities

As a Service Engineer at Mycronic, you will play a crucial role in providing technical support and maintaining our cutting-edge equipment at customer sites. Seen as an ambassador for the company, this role will primarily be client facing, so the ability to always perform professionally and communicate with confidence are a prerequisite. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Installing, commissioning, and testing Mycronic equipment at customer facilities.
  • Conducting routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on Mycronic machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering and customer support, to address technical issues and deliver timely solutions.
  • Providing exceptional customer service, ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication and problem resolution.
  • Documenting service activities, including service reports, installation records, and maintenance logs.
  • Training customer personnel on the operation and maintenance of Mycronic equipment.
  • Keeping abreast of the latest technological advancements in the industry to enhance your expertise and contribute to ongoing product and personal development.

Qualifications and Skills

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Qualification or experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience as a Service Engineer, servicing capital equipment / machinery, preferably within the electronics or semiconductor industry would be advantageous but not necessary. Candidates from an SMT background would also be suited to this role.
  • In-depth knowledge of troubleshooting and repairing complex electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong analytical skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Good level of IT literacy.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to travel extensively, both domestically and (occasionally) internationally, to customer sites as required.

Specific Requirements

  • A good working knowledge of the circuit board assembly process.
  • Acceptance that the role will sometimes have long and irregular working hours and will involve overnight stays, sometimes at short notice.
  • Acceptance that product training can take longer than a week and is generally in Sweden or France.
  • Employee must be able to deal with strictly confidential information internally and externally.
  • Must always have a presentable appearance.
  • Must be in possession of a driving license (ideally clean).
  • Must be prepared to drive up to 30,000 miles a year.
  • Proximity to UK office (Poole, Dorset) not a requirement as majority of time will be spent visiting customers sites with some home working.
  • Highly motivated.
