We are currently seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller to support a well-established organisation during a period of transition. This initial 2–4 month contract will allow the business to recruit a permanent Financial Controller, with potential for additional interim assignments through our network thereafter.

Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will take ownership of the finance function, ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting, and effective financial management throughout the interim period. This role requires a hands-on finance professional who can quickly integrate into the business, provide stability, and drive efficiency within a fast-paced operational environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations and controls.
  • Lead month-end and year-end processes.
  • Produce accurate and timely management accounts and financial reports.
  • Manage cash-flow forecasting and working-capital requirements.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with operational leaders to provide commercial financial insight.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and efficiencies.
  • Support the handover and onboarding of the permanent Financial Controller.
About You
  • Proven recent experience operating as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader.
  • Strong background within high-volume, low-margin environments.
  • Demonstrable ability to improve efficiency and maintain financial control in fast-paced organisations.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • A hands-on, pragmatic approach with the ability to hit the ground running.
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
Desirable Experience
  • Care / Social Care organisations.
  • Not-for-profit organisations.
  • Local authorities / public sector.

Location: Ideally based in Somerset, with the ability to work on a hybrid basis from Bristol and surrounding areas.

Contract Details
  • Initial contract: 2–4 months.
  • Hybrid working arrangement.
  • Immediate or short-notice availability preferred.
  • Competitive day rate.
