Looking for passionate and committed individuals to join the Board of Trustees at MTICBIAI. As a Trustee, you will help shape our strategic direction, strengthen our governance and support our mission. What difference will you make? As a Trustee of My Trauma Is Chronic, But I Am Iconic!! (MTICBIAI), you will help shape a movement that challenges stigma, drives systemic change and empowers trauma survivors and neurodivergent individuals to reclaim their narratives. Your leadership will directly influence how we grow, how we advocate for marginalised voices and how we create safe spaces where lived experience is not just heard but celebrated. By guiding our strategy and strengthening our foundations, you will be part of building a lasting legacy of hope, resilience and justice.
What are we looking for?
- Commitment to MTICBIAI’s mission and values, with a strong belief in amplifying the voices of trauma survivors and neurodivergent individuals.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to see the bigger picture and contribute to long-term planning.
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills, particularly around governance, safeguarding and organisational growth.
- Willingness to act as an ambassador for MTICBIAI and to advocate for our work across networks.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, respecting different viewpoints and lived experiences.
- Understanding of the responsibilities of charity trusteeship, or willingness to undertake training to gain this understanding.
- Lived experience of trauma, neurodivergence or marginalisation, or strong experience working alongside communities affected by these issues.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Finance, audit or charity accounting
- Fundraising, bid writing or income generation
- CIC governance and compliance
- Legal expertise (particularly in CIC, safeguarding or human rights law)
- Human resources, especially in inclusive and trauma-informed practice
- Communications, campaigning or public relations
- Mental health advocacy or social justice work
- Digital innovation, social media strategy or community building
- Leadership experience, particularly in grassroots organisations or the voluntary sector.
- An understanding of systemic barriers faced by care-experienced individuals, trauma survivors and/or neurodivergent communities.

What will you be doing?
Role Purpose
As a Trustee, you will share collective responsibility for the governance and strategic direction of the organisation. You will ensure that the organisation delivers its mission, complies with its legal and regulatory obligations and operates in a way that upholds its values.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
- Safeguard the organisation’s assets and ensure the financial stability of the organisation.
- Contribute actively to the Board of Trustees’ role in providing strategic direction, defining goals and setting overall policy.
- Monitor the organisation’s performance in delivering services and achieving agreed targets.
- Support the organisation’s activities by attending meetings, promoting the charity’s work and acting as an ambassador.
- Maintain oversight of risks and ensure the organisation has effective risk management strategies in place.
- Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation and its resources.
- Appoint and support the Chief Executive Officer or equivalent and monitor their performance.
