An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled Advanced Practitioner Social Worker to join Bury’s Family Safeguarding Team. This role is ideal for an experienced practitioner seeking to take the next step in leadership while remaining close to frontline practice. You’ll support complex case management, lead practice improvement, and help embed a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach to safeguarding children and families.

Key Responsibilities
Complex Casework
Hold a small caseload of high-risk cases, including Child Protection, Pre-Proceedings (PLO), and Care Proceedings.
Deliver robust, evidence-based assessments, care planning, and safeguarding interventions.
Coach and support social workers through co-working, mentoring, and reflective supervision.
Lead by example, modelling best practice and professional standards.
Embedding the Family Safeguarding Model
Champion trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches using motivational interviewing.
Facilitate multi-disciplinary interventions that address the needs of the whole family.
Quality Assurance & Improvement
Support Team Managers with audits, thematic reviews, and performance improvement activities.
Contribute to service development through practice learning forums and feedback mechanisms.
Work closely with adult practitioners, education, police, and health colleagues to drive integrated family support.
Court Work
Lead on complex legal proceedings, providing high-quality court reports, care plans, and expert evidence.
Facilitate learning opportunities within the team through workshops, case discussions, and reflective practice.
About You
Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
Proven experience in children’s safeguarding and care proceedings.
Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to mentor and support peers.
Skilled in risk assessment, planning, and multi-agency working.
Knowledge and application of the Family Safeguarding Model is desirable.
