What You Will Do
- Hold a caseload of Children in Care, ensuring high-quality care planning and permanency planning.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of child development and apply safeguarding legislation effectively.
- Complete comprehensive assessments, develop and review care plans, and ensure children’s welfare remains central.
- Manage complex cases and work collaboratively with multi-agency partners.
- Build meaningful, trusting relationships with children, families, carers, and professionals.
- Advocate for children’s best interests in all settings, including court and statutory reviews.
- Prepare high-quality reports for reviews, legal proceedings, and planning meetings.
- Use sound professional judgement, emotional resilience, and problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations.
- Promote equality, diversity, and culturally competent practice.
- Maintain accurate and timely records using the council’s case management systems.
- Engage fully in reflective supervision, training, and continuous professional development.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) and registered with Social Work England.
- Experience working in Children’s Social Care, particularly with Children in Care.
- Strong knowledge of child development, safeguarding, and relevant legislation.
- Proven ability to manage complex cases and produce high-quality assessments and reports.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills.
- Commitment to child-centred, strengths-based, and inclusive practice.
- Experience working within a Children in Care or Looked After Children team.
- Court work and care planning experience.
- Knowledge of Cornwall Council procedures and systems.
