Purpose of the Role

Lead practice development initiatives across Children’s Social Care, ensuring high‑quality, evidence‑based, and reflective practice. Provide professional guidance, mentor colleagues, and support service improvement strategies to enhance outcomes for children, young people, and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote strengths‑based, child‑centred, and trauma‑informed practice across teams.
  • Support practitioners in delivering high‑quality assessments, interventions, and case management.
  • Lead the implementation of policy, practice guidance, and statutory frameworks.
  • Act as a practice mentor, providing coaching, reflective supervision, and professional consultation.
  • Participate in audits, case file reviews, and service evaluations to monitor practice quality.

Person Specification

  • Qualifications: BA/MA Social Work, DipSW, or CQSW.
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Post‑qualifying experience in children’s social care and practice leadership.
  • Statutory children’s social work experience, including safeguarding and child protection.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or supporting social work colleagues.
  • Experience leading practice development, quality assurance, or service improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, assessment, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
