Shooting Stars Nurseries is seeking an experienced and passionate Baby Room Leader to join our friendly team at our well-established nursery in Stourbridge on a maternity cover contract.

This is an exciting opportunity for an existing Room Leader, Senior Nursery Practitioner or experienced Level 3 Early Years Practitioner looking to lead a baby room and make a real difference during the most important stage of a child's development.

You’ll be responsible for creating a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment for our youngest children, leading a team of practitioners and ensuring exceptional standards of care, learning and development.

Potential Permanent Opportunity

Whilst this role is initially offered as maternity cover, we are keen to invest in talented Early Years professionals. Subject to successful completion of probation and business needs, there may be an opportunity to move into a permanent Nursery Practitioner position within the nursery.

What You'll Be Doing

As Baby Room Leader, you will:

• Lead the day-to-day running of the baby room.
• Ensure outstanding standards of care and education for babies aged 0–2 years.
• Support children's learning and development in line with the EYFS.
• Build strong attachments and positive relationships with children and families.
• Lead, motivate and support a team of practitioners, apprentices and students.
• Complete observations, assessments and learning journeys to a high standard.
• Work in partnership with parents and carers to support each child's development.
• Ensure safeguarding, health and safety and wellbeing standards are consistently maintained.
• Foster an engaging, stimulating and nurturing environment where babies can thrive.
• Support the wider management team with continuous improvement across the nursery.

Essential Requirements

• Full and relevant Level 3 Early Years Qualification (or above).

• Previous experience working within a nursery or Early Years setting.

• Experience as a:

  • Baby Room Leader
  • Room Leader
  • Senior Nursery Practitioner
  • Third in Charge
  • Deputy Room Leader

• Strong knowledge of:

  • EYFS
  • Child development
  • Safeguarding and child protection
  • Observation, assessment and planning

• Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills.
