My Product Path is partnered with an established leader in life safety and communication technology, hiring a Platform Engineer to help build and scale cloud-based platforms that support safety-critical communication systems used in millions of buildings worldwide. This is a senior, hands-on engineering role with significant ownership - ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex backend problems while shaping real-world systems that need to work reliably at scale.
About the Role
You’ll work closely with technical leadership to design and build the backend services powering a global platform. These systems handle device connectivity, real-time communication, and operational telemetry and must perform reliably in environments where uptime matters. You’ll spend most of your time building production-grade services, while also contributing to architecture, reviewing engineering work, and helping guide technical standards across distributed teams and partners.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing, building, and shipping scalable backend services
- Owning complex problems across APIs, data flows, and system integration
- Contributing to platform architecture and technical decision-making
- Improving reliability, observability, and operational readiness
- Reviewing code and designs from internal teams and external partners
- Ensuring systems are secure, maintainable, and production-ready
- Working with cloud-native tooling (Azure, containers, infrastructure as code)
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience building and operating backend or distributed systems in production
- Solid coding skills (ideally Python and/or Node.js)
- Experience designing service-oriented architectures and APIs
- Hands-on exposure to cloud environments (Azure preferred)
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code
- Strong technical judgement and a pragmatic approach to trade-offs
- Confidence in reviewing and guiding the work of other engineers
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, senior individual contributor role
Why This Role?
- High-impact platform used globally in real-world, safety-critical environments
- Strong technical ownership with the ability to shape system design
- Collaborative, engineering-led culture with autonomy
- Remote with flexibility and international exposure
- Competitive salary + bonus + learning/certification support
