About the Role
My Neighbours the Dumplings is looking for a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join our team in Clapton. You will work closely with our Head Chef from Hong Kong, supporting them in maintaining high standards and managing daily kitchen operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for a chef with a strong work ethic to take the next step in their career within a supportive and creative environment.
About the Company
We are an independently run Chinese Dumpling House specializing in handmade dumplings and Dim Sum style sharing plates. We pride ourselves on using fresh produce and traditional techniques. As a small but growing business, we value team members who are self-motivated and eager to contribute their ideas to our success.
Responsibilities
- Lead the kitchen team and manage service in the Head Chef's absence.
- Oversee daily prep and ensure all dishes meet our quality standards.
- Maintain strict food hygiene and safety protocols.
- Train and develop junior team members, fostering a positive kitchen culture.
- Manage ordering and inventory to ensure efficient stock control.
- Run the pass during busy services to ensure a smooth flow from kitchen to table.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in a professional kitchen environment.
- Specific Sous Chef experience is not required, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- A genuine interest in dumplings and high-quality, freshly made food.
- Availability to work a flexible rota including evenings and weekends (shifts between 9:00 am and 11:30 pm).
- A great team player who enjoys the atmosphere of a small independent business.
- Full-time contract (45 hours per week).
- 28 days holiday per year.
- Free meals while on shift.
