My Life is currently looking for a kind, patient and reliable Support Worker / Personal Assistant to join our team in Bury. You'll be supporting Charlie, a friendly gentleman who loves the outdoors β€” especially fishing.

Responsibilities

  • Daily Living Support: Support Charlie with daily activities.
  • Community Adventures: Accompany Charlie on outings β€” hiking and, especially, fishing.
  • Skill Building & Independence: Work alongside Charlie to develop life skills that boost his confidence and self-sufficiency.
  • Be a Friendly Confidant: Build a genuine connection with Charlie, providing companionship, encouragement and positivity every day.
  • Health & Well-being Monitoring: Look out for Charlie's safety, well-being, and overall happiness, keeping open communication with his family and care team.
  • Calm and Patient: Approach challenges with understanding and a steady mindset.
  • Comfortable Outdoors: Enjoy spending time outside, especially on fishing trips.
  • Great Communication Skills: Connect with Charlie, his family, and the wider team, ensuring everyone is aligned.
  • Driver's License: Required for taking Charlie on outings and helping him stay engaged in the community.

About the Role

As Support Worker / Personal Assistant, you will support a 33-year-old male with Autism who is supported by staff on a 2:1 basis during the day and 1:1 overnight. You'll work closely with him and his support network, focusing on promoting his well-being, fostering skills, and enhancing his sense of community.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Experience or Keen to Learn: You have experience supporting people with Autism, Learning Disabilities, and/or mental health needs, or are eager to develop your skills.
  • Driver's License is Required: For taking Charlie on outings and helping him stay engaged in the community.
  • Calm, patient and respectful demeanour in all interactions.
