Speech & Language Therapist (NQP or Specialist)

Join our Mid Sussex team in a permanent role built around real supervision, real CPD, and a caseload that gives you breathing room.

Location Cuckfield / Haywards Heath Salary Β£31,500–£47,000 (DOE) Hours Full-time or part-time Contract Permanent Reports to Clinical Director Closing date Monday 26 October 2026 Interviews Thursday 29 October 2026

About the role

We're looking for a paediatric Speech & Language Therapist to join our small independent team in Mid Sussex. You'll work with children aged roughly 18 months through secondary school across our Cuckfield therapy centre, in clients' homes, and in partner schools, assessing, planning, and delivering therapy for a varied caseload.

This is a permanent role we're offering full-time or part-time (minimum 0.6 FTE). We're genuinely open to both newly qualified practitioners (with a structured preceptorship plan, mentoring, and a deliberately protected caseload during your first year) and to experienced specialists looking for clinical autonomy and the chance to lead a clinical area such as autism, AAC or EHCP work.

What you'll do

Carry a varied paediatric caseload covering language, speech sound, social communication, autism, AAC and early years.

Plan and deliver assessments, write clear reports (including EHCP advice), and design therapy that works in the child's real life.

Coach parents and school staff so the strategies live beyond the session. We work closely with the people in the child's environment.

Work alongside a small, supportive team, with peer reflection, joint sessions and informal case discussion as part of the week.

Help shape the practice. Service development, resources, parent workshops and school training are open to anyone who wants to lead them.

About you

You don't need every box ticked. What matters most is the values fit and the willingness to keep learning. That said, here's what we're looking for:

  • HCPC registration as a Speech & Language Therapist (or imminent; NQPs welcome).
  • RCSLT membership.
  • UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (caseload spans Mid Sussex).
  • Demonstrable commitment to neurodiversity-affirming practice.
  • Excellent written communication, since reports are central to the role.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Post-qualification experience in autism, AAC, early years, or EHCP report writing.
  • Experience working with schools and SENCOs.

What we offer

Banded by experience and reviewed annually.

Training and CPD

We offer training and back the courses you want to do.

Regular 1:1 supervision

Monthly clinical supervision plus peer reflection. NQPs get weekly supervision with support to complete competencies.

Private medical insurance

Plus annual flu vaccination and access to an employee wellbeing programme.

Protected admin time

Reports, planning and prep are scheduled inside your working week.

Pension contributions and on-site parking at our Cuckfield base.
