Locum Ready is looking for a Locum Practice Nurse to work for a GP practice in Abingdon. This role is ideal for a Practice Nurse with strong assessment skills who can confidently deliver chronic disease reviews, treatment room procedures and routine nursing clinics in a structured primary care environment.
You will contribute to high-quality patient care through a balance of clinical reviews, preventative health work and treatment room activity. The practice offers well-organised workflows, supportive nursing leadership and a clear structure for daily clinic delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting chronic disease reviews for patients with asthma, COPD, diabetes or hypertension
- Performing wound care, dressings and treatment room duties
- Carrying out adult and children’s immunisations (if trained)
- Undertaking smear tests (cytology-trained nurses)
- Completing NHS Health Checks and lifestyle assessments
- Managing results, recalls and routine follow-up tasks
- Documenting clearly in the clinical system
Requirements
- NMC-registered Nurse with experience in primary care
- Up-to-date immunisation and cytology training desirable
- Confident in chronic disease management and treatment room-work
- Good patient communication and clinical reasoning
- Familiarity with EMIS, SystmOne or Vision
- Enhanced DBS
