About My Fish Company.
My Fish Company is one of the most highly regarded seafood suppliers within the food industry, delivering premium-quality products and exceptional service to customers across the hospitality sector and other professional foodservice markets.
Established in 2015, the business has grown to a turnover of approximately £13 million and has ambitious plans for continued growth. With strong foundations, a loyal customer base and a structured sales function in place, the company is now looking to expand its sales team and further develop the region.
The Role.
This is primarily a field-based sales role, focused on building strong customer relationships, developing existing accounts and winning new business across the territory. The successful candidate will typically visit four to six venues per day, working to a call cycle of between one and eight weeks depending on account potential and customer needs.
The key objective is to become the trusted single-source seafood supplier for customers by delivering outstanding service, commercial advice and product solutions that support their business.
The territory currently includes approximately 35 active accounts, alongside a further 120 lower-spending accounts, managed right now by the internal team. Current regional turnover is approximately £1.5 million, with significant scope for growth as the area has not been actively sold to for five years. Typical order values typically range from hundreds to thousands of pounds.
Initially, the role will be approximately 70% new business development and 30% account management, gradually moving towards a balanced 50/50 split as the customer base grows. Any new business won will become part of the salesperson’s ledger and will be managed directly by them.
The Field Sales Executive will be responsible for arranging their own appointments and managing their diary effectively. The typical working pattern will involve three to four days on the road each week, with one day working from home. Attendance at the office will be required approximately once every two weeks for sales meetings and continuous improvement training.
The external sales team is supported by an internal team who assist with day-to-day order taking and customer support. The role involves dealing directly with decision makers, including head chefs, managers, buyers and business owners.
The successful candidate will have autonomy over their region, including the freedom to identify target markets, negotiate within agreed margins, prepare quotations and tenders, and draw on support from the wider business.
Target Market.
The role involves selling to a wide range of end users with professional kitchens, including restaurants, hotels, pubs, gastropubs, high-end wine bars and similar hospitality venues.
Who We Are Looking For.
The ideal candidate should ideally have a background in food, food sales or hospitality. This role may also suit a chef who is looking for a career change while remaining within the food industry.
We are looking for someone who can take ownership of their territory, treat it like their own business and bring genuine passion for delivering outstanding customer service. Strong attention to detail, professionalism and commercial drive are essential.
Location.
The candidate should live on patch or within easy access of the territory.
