Lead Our Night Team at Towy Castle Care Home

Set within beautiful grounds overlooking the Towy estuary, Towy Castle Care Home provides high-quality residential and dementia care in a warm, welcoming and supportive environment.

We are looking for a confident, compassionate and dependable Night Duty Shift Manager to lead our night team and ensure residents receive safe, high-quality care throughout the night.

This is an important leadership role within the home and would suit an experienced Senior Care Assistant, Team Leader or Shift Leader looking for their next step, or an existing Night Shift Manager seeking a new opportunity.

About the Role

As Night Duty Shift Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the smooth running of the home throughout the night, leading the night team and ensuring residents' needs are met to a high standard.

You will act as the senior person on duty overnight and provide guidance, support and direction to the wider team.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and supporting a team of 4 night staff

• Allocating duties and ensuring all tasks are completed appropriately

• Organising cover for annual leave and sickness when required

• Ensuring residents receive safe, person-centred care throughout the night

• Supporting residents with personal care, repositioning and continence care

• Carrying out regular welfare and safety checks

• Administering medication when required

• Completing medication changeovers and audits as required

• Maintaining accurate records and handovers

• Responding appropriately to emergencies and incidents

• Contacting Out of Hours support, healthcare professionals or emergency services when required

• Overseeing cleaning, laundry and other night-time operational duties

• Ensuring high standards of care, safety and compliance are maintained at all times

We're Looking For Someone Who:

✔ Has previous experience working within a care environment

✔ Has experience leading or supervising a team

✔ Is confident making decisions and managing situations independently

✔ Is organised, reliable and professional

✔ Has experience administering medication

✔ Has excellent communication and leadership skills

✔ Can commit to the advertised 3 on / 3 off rota

Qualifications

✔ NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care (preferred)

✔ Medication training and experience desirable

✔ Experience supporting older people and individuals living with dementia desirable

Location & Travel

Towy Castle Care Home is located near Carmarthen and is commutable from Llanelli, Ammanford, Llandeilo, Cross Hands, Kidwelly, St Clears, Whitland and surrounding areas.

Due to the rural location of the home and limited public transport availability during night-time hours, applicants should be able to travel reliably to and from Towy Castle Care Home for all shifts.

Important Information

This role works a permanent 10:00pm–8:00am shift pattern on a 3 nights on / 3 nights off rolling rota, including weekends and bank holidays.

All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS checks and satisfactory references.
