Humraaz is a charity organisation, established for 23 years specialising in supporting women and children from black and ethnic minority backgrounds who have been affected by violence against women and girls including domestic abuse and sexual violence.
As an IDVA you will provide high quality specialist domestic abuse support to BME women who have experienced any form of domestic abuse. You will advocate on their behalf to reduce the risk of further abuse and engage with other professionals to provide guidance and support in response to domestic abuse.
You will be multi‑lingual to deliver the service effectively by identifying and responding to the needs, safety or concerns. Information, advice and support will span across all forms of domestic abuse, gender‑based violence, forced marriage, honour‑based violence and related issues such as immigration / asylum, no recourse to public funds, matrimonial and children, housing and homelessness, mental health and financial matters.
You will be involved in case management undertaking needs and risk assessment, safety planning, monitoring, reporting, documenting and offering coping and recovery themes. You will engage with a passionate and dedicated team, a supportive culture and other benefits such as holiday entitlement, pension and training where required.
Minimum 2 years’ experience is required. An enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful candidate for this role. The post is open to women only (Exempt under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, and Part 1. Section 7(2) e of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975).
