Job Purpose: To ensure the speedy, efficient and accurate delivery of assembled product and invoices to the customer within the corporate guidelines. All staff are expected to understand the principles of Good Distribution Practice of Medicinal Products for Human Use (2013/C 68/01) which is reflected in our SOP – REF Chapter 1 AHDL GDP 1.1. It will be a requirement for all staff to be trained in this SOP and have an annual refresher. All other GDP training will be job specific and as per your personal training matrix.
Key Accountabilities:
- To maintain a safe and competent standard of driving, observing speed limits and other traffic signs and giving due regard to other road users.
- To have a daily check to ensure that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition including a check of the lights, brakes, coolant, etc.
- To report any faults, breakdowns, accidents or delays.
- To maintain the internal and external condition of the vehicle together with the cleanliness of the vehicle.
- To ensure sufficient quantities of fuel have been taken for the day's work.
- To maintain the security of the vehicle and its contents at all times.
- To check all orders shown on the dropsheets and ensure all orders are loaded on the vehicle.
- To collect goods returned for credit, mail, cheques or delivery bins and their safe return to the branch at times instructed by the branch management.
- Ensure damages/breakages are dealt with promptly and correctly with due regard to special procedures for HazChems.
- To maintain a smart appearance at all times.
- To help maintain good customer relations.
- To be involved in other duties as may be defined from time to time by the Management.
- Meet all Health & Safety requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
Essential
- A full driving license must be held relevant to the vehicle being driven.
- For insurance purposes, all drivers must be over 21 years of age.
- Existing employees must update fleet services accordingly with any changes to their license status e.g. points on their license, driving bans etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer care.
- Intermediate numeracy and literacy.
Desirable
- Previous experience of multi-drop delivery driving is highly desirable.
- Route planning experience.
Manual Handling: It should be noted that manual handling tasks such as lifting and bending are “essential requirements” of this role. Level of Decision Making: Required to act on own initiative and work unsupervised. Required to monitor the condition of own vehicle and report any damages or faults. Serious faults or damages may result in the driver making the decision the vehicle is not roadworthy.
Additional Information: Drivers are required to maintain a smart appearance due to their constant interaction with external customers.
