What You Will Do

This role is in support of Cencora's wholesale distribution services in Europe operating through our Alliance Healthcare business.

Department: Transport

Location: Birmingham

Hours: 48 hours per week. Day shift with start times between 03:30 and 7 am Mon-Sat (am only)

Salary: £16.43- £21.85 dependent on start time and shift pattern

Job Purpose: As an LGV Driver Class 1 for Cencora Alliance Healthcare, you will play a vital role in ensuring the timely, efficient, and accurate delivery of assembled products and invoices to customers, while adhering to corporate guidelines and maintaining high standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service. You will represent Cencora Alliance Healthcare as an ambassador, embodying our purpose: 'We are united in our responsibility to create healthier futures.'

Key Accountabilities:

  • Maintain all vehicles to company and legislative standards, ensuring safety and reliability.
  • Adhere to EU Working Time and Road Transport Regulations, driving within the tachograph laws, driving hour limits and ensuring required daily and weekly rest periods are taken.
  • Comply with speed limits, driving the vehicle courteously, safely, and legally.
  • Ensure vehicles are not overloaded and only authorised vehicles are kept at the designated Operating Centre(s) when not in use.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with statutory requirements.
  • Attend essential or advisory training in order to carry out the driver role.
  • Maintain a high standard of driving, adhering to speed limits, traffic regulations, and ensuring the safety of all road users.
  • Conduct daily vehicle checks to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy, including lights, brakes, coolant, and other essential components. Report any faults, breakdowns, or delays promptly.
  • Ensure all Proof of Deliveries (PODs) listed on drop sheets are delivered to customers. Report any shortages to the transport department before leaving the customer site.
  • Collect goods returned from customers as instructed by the transport team.
  • Verify all orders listed on drop sheets are loaded onto the vehicle.
  • Log trailer seal numbers before departure and upon arrival at Cencora Alliance Healthcare sites or customer locations.
  • Maintain a professional and approachable demeanour to foster positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Promote a customer-focused approach, ensuring customer needs are prioritised.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Full UK LGV Class 1 (C+E) with CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
  • 1 Year HGV driving experience.
  • Experience in multi-drop delivery environments / pallet work (highly desirable).
  • Ability to comply with Health and Safety standards.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in route planning is advantageous.
  • Have good eyesight / corrected vision.
  • Ability to work under pressure, unsupervised and with a flexible work ethic.
