MWH Treatment are looking to strengthen our Technical team with a Technical Author based in the South West Region with hybrid working available.
You will report directly to the Regional Commissioning Manager, and your role will be responsible for creating, editing, and managing a wide range of technical documentation related to water treatment, wastewater processing, network infrastructure, and plant equipment. You will work closely with engineers, project managers, and operations staff to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and compliant documentation for a variety of audiences.
Key responsibilities
- Document creation: Research, write, and produce high-quality technical documents, including operation and maintenance (O&M) manuals for new and existing assets.
- Information gathering: Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), including engineers and technicians, to gather necessary information and validate technical content.
- Content management: Maintain and update a technical documentation library, ensuring all information is accurate, up-to-date, and aligns with company standards.
- Compliance and standards: Ensure all documentation adheres to relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., DWI regulations in the UK), as well as company style guides.
- Audience-focused communication: Write for a range of technical and non-technical audiences, from plant operators to field technicians and internal stakeholders.
- Support Regional Commissioning Manager in production of commissioning documentation for a wide range of projects.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Technical Author or Technical Writer, ideally within the water, utilities, engineering, or a related industrial sector.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
- Experience in researching and interpreting complex technical information and engineering standards.
- Proficiency with technical writing software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Technical Communication Suite) and document management systems (e.g., SharePoint).
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience with MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, and Automation) technical documentation.
