We’re looking for an experienced Assistant Technical Coordinator to support the Delivery team within the MWHT Northern Business, working across projects in the United Utilities region. If you’re detail driven, organised, and enjoy enabling project teams with accurate and accessible information, this role will suit you well. You’ll report directly to the Regional Information Manager who resides in the Digital Delivery Team and work closely with engineers, project teams, and site staff to ensure compliant, efficient document control throughout the full project lifecycle.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Document Control & Governance
    • Lead document control activities for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with client standards, MWHT procedures and information management requirements.
    • Set up and maintain project workspaces and electronic filing structures in Bentley ProjectWise, Autodesk ACC, SharePoint, and related systems.
    • Manage the receipt, registration, classification, numbering, versioning and distribution of documents.
    • Upload, issue, track and manage document workflows, ensuring responses are captured, monitored and circulated appropriately.
    • Conduct quality checks to ensure accuracy, correct metadata, and compliance prior to issuing documentation.
    • Ensure all project stakeholders have access to the latest revisions; archive superseded documents appropriately.
    • Implement and enforce document control procedures, addressing nonconformances where necessary.
    • Generate document status, submission and outstanding action reports, including RAG metrics.
    • Support audits and ensure documentation remains compliant with regulatory, client and contractual requirements.
    • Liaise with internal teams, external partners and clients to facilitate document flow and resolve document related issues.
  • Project Coordination
    • Coordinate documentation throughout all delivery stages: Pre-Construction → Design → Construction → Handover / Commissioning.
    • Maintain project document and drawing registers.
    • Attend internal and external document control and project progress meetings.
    • Provide updates and insights related to document status and outstanding actions.
  • Team Support & Best Practice
    • Coach and support colleagues and potentially supplier chain partners on CDE functionality and document control procedures.
    • Promote consistent, compliant information management across all project teams.

About You

Essential

  • Proven experience in document control or a related information management role, ideally within engineering or construction projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of ProjectWise and familiarity with other document management systems (e.g., Autodesk Forma, SharePoint).
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage high volumes of documents accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining precise and compliant records.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines while maintaining structured workflows.
  • Confident communicator able to collaborate with engineers, site teams, senior staff and external stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to process improvements.
  • Ability to handle confidential or sensitive information appropriately.

Desirable

  • Experience in construction, infrastructure, utilities or engineering environments.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 19650 and its application to information management.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to regional offices or project sites.
