As we evolve our approach to engineering design and production, we are seeking a visionary and hands-on Engineering Resource Manager to ensure we have the right flow of trained Engineering staff.
About the Role : As an Engineering Resource Manager, you will be responsible for leading the ongoing enhancement of our engineering organisational capacity. This includes evaluating the resource capacity needs, developing a resource strategic plan, supporting recruitment, maximising internalisation, building connections, controlling and coordinating resources and performance.
You will report directly to the Engineering Director. Location is flexible.
Responsibilities: -
Forecasting

  • Lead resource demand forecasting with support from the Regional Engineering Leads for a 3 to 5 year lookahead that includes reports on workload visibility and stability.
Meeting demand
  • Develop a strategic resourcing plan.
  • Plan and establish a supply of capable designers to meet the demand. Support closing the gap if there is misalignment between resource supply and demand and skills.
Supporting Recruitment
  • Support the launching and maintaining recruitment campaigns where required. Coordinate technical leads with authority to conduct first interviews.
  • Find innovative ways and lessons learnt to securing and retaining resources.
  • Support transparency of potential candidates across Engineering whilst working within GDPR requirements.
Internalisation, offshore, external
  • Maximise internationalisation of design if can’t be taken on by MWHT Engineering, particularly HPD.
  • Orientate between design houses to maximise capabilities and sustainability of each entity.
  • Provide pipeline visibility and stability for each design house, understand their complimenting and additive services, whether core design services or specialist call off services.
  • Support the commercial approach and system alignment to their engagement.
  • Support Enterprise/JV’s and support establishing ways to effective recruitment.
Sustainable supplier relationships
  • Support the ELT and REL’s maintaining trusting relationships with RSK internal companies and external design houses.
Building Connections
  • Be the Engineering’s representative at the Building Connections event.
  • Help build people connectivity across Engineering.
Control and Coordination
  • Control and coordinate cross – regional resource allocation. This includes developing, communicating, and upholding the resource protocol.
  • Motivate and promote collaboration.
  • Ensure that the right work environment maximising effective supply and opportunity to deliver.
  • Ensure roles of internal assigned staff are clear. Help induct assigned staff into new frameworks.
  • Be cognisance of margin return across frameworks when assigning staff.
  • Support ensuring that IFS Engineering organograms are up to date.
  • Monitor utilisation and take appropriate management actions to maximise.
Graduate and Apprenticeship Intake
  • Take point on establishing graduate and apprenticeship members for the following years intake.
  • Support the Engineering skills Group.
Evaluation
  • Deliver an annual review of salaries in the Engineering marketplace, promotions and spot bonuses.
  • Support Monitoring and analysing Engineering leaver interviews.
  • Identify measures to monitor attendance and performance and support their automation.
