We are looking to strengthen our Engineering team with a Design Manager to join our Southern Division with flexible working available.
Are you an experienced Design Manager ready to shape the delivery of essential water and wastewater infrastructure? This is an opportunity to take the lead on technically challenging projects that make a real difference to communities, customers and the environment.
At MWH Treatment, you will play a key role in driving safe, buildable and cost-effective design solutions from scope definition through to assurance, handover and construction support. Working with clients, designers, suppliers and construction teams, you will help turn complex requirements into practical, high-quality outcomes.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead engineering and design delivery from scope definition through assurance, issue resolution and handover.
- Ensure all design work meets health and safety, quality, technical, environmental, sustainability and governance requirements.
- Manage design plans, deliverables schedules, decision logs, risk registers and monthly progress reporting.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across engineering, delivery, commercial, planning, supplier and construction functions.
- Drive efficient, value-led and low-carbon design solutions while maintaining quality and programme commitments.
- Control design change, manage interfaces, provide early warnings and lead recovery actions where needed.
- Represent MWH Treatment professionally with clients, partners and internal stakeholders.
- Provide technical support during construction, assembly and commissioning where required.
About You
- Degree qualified in engineering, or able to demonstrate equivalent professional standing.
- Chartered Engineer status, or working towards chartership, would be advantageous.
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary design teams within water, wastewater, infrastructure or a design-build environment.
- Strong understanding of CDM, construction health and safety, technical assurance and project governance.
- Confident managing scope, programme, cost, risk, resource and stakeholder expectations.
- Clear communicator with the ability to influence, challenge constructively and build effective working relationships.
- Knowledge of BIM, digital design tools, sustainability and carbon reduction approaches would be beneficial.
