We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Principal Civil Engineer based at Maple Lodge, with hybrid working available. You will report directly to the RDL, and your role will be to provide superior quality engineering design services to minimize risks and maximize profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts. You will coordinate the design and produce design documents and drawings, taking into account health and safety requirements, specifications, and standards related to the contract.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Produce cost-effective design layouts that meet specifications and are suitable for construction and commissioning.
- Consider all associated costs, including design time, materials, erection, and impacts on other disciplines.
- Utilize standard practices wherever possible to maintain competitiveness.
- Provide estimates and feedback to the Proposals department.
- Follow procedures and processes to ensure departmental development.
- Assist in developing, monitoring, and updating procedures and processes.
- Coordinate designs with all internal and external disciplines to ensure integrated and efficient design processes.
- Maintain files and records throughout contract durations.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering quality services and fostering a customer-centric culture.
- Maintain a personal development plan and assist in supervising and developing staff.
- Promote a safe working environment and minimize waste from departmental activities.
- Ensure designs consider environmental issues and health and safety requirements.
Essential qualifications and experience:
- Understanding of principles of water and sewage treatment.
- Experience in managing and mentoring staff in designing water and sewage treatment plants.
- Membership of a professional institution, chartered or nearing chartership.
- Minimum of a Civil Engineering HND qualification.
- Ability to rationalize designs and produce economical plant layouts.
- Good knowledge of all aspects of water treatment, including mechanical, process, electrical engineering, and project management.
- Flexible mindset with the ability to process large amounts of data.
- Ability to present technical proposals clearly and confidently.
- Computer literacy.
- Valid driving license.
Desirable qualifications:
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status.
- Relevant Master's Degree in Engineering.
