We are looking to strengthen our engineering team with a Senior Design Engineer within the United Utilities Process Engineering Team based at Hattersley with hybrid working available. You will report directly to the Regional Process Discipline Lead and your role will be to provide superior quality Engineering Design services to allow the company to minimise risks and maximise profits on turnkey and engineering services contracts.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing design layouts which are cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification and which can be constructed and commissioned effectively.
- Ensuring that standard practices are utilised wherever possible.
- Providing estimates and feedback for the Proposals department.
- Working to procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the department.
- Assisting in developing, monitoring and reviewing procedures and processes.
- Ensuring co-ordination of designs with all other disciplines internal and external to MWHT.
- Maintaining files and records throughout the duration of contracts.
- Assuring customer satisfaction.
- Maintaining a personal development plan.
- Assisting in supervising and developing staff.
- Ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
- Reducing waste to a minimum from all departmental activities.
- Ensuring designs take account of environmental issues and health and safety requirements.
Essential:
- Proficient in hydraulics engineering/design and have experience of using hydraulics analysis software such as HADES.
- Understanding the principles of water and sewage treatment.
- Experience of managing/mentoring members of staff in designing relevant discipline aspects of water and sewage treatment plants.
- Membership of a professional institution chartered or nearing chartership.
- Ability to rationalise designs and produce economic plant layouts.
- Good general knowledge of all aspects of water treatment, e.g. mechanical engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering and project management.
- A flexible mind, with the ability to assimilate large amounts of different data at one time.
- Ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently and convincingly.
- Computer literacy.
- Driving license.
Preferable:
- Relevant discipline Engineering degree.
Minimum:
- Relevant discipline Engineering HND.
Desirable:
- Relevant Engineering Master's Degree.
