This is a full-time Quantity Surveyor role based in Torquay. The Quantity Surveyor will manage all cost-related aspects of construction projects, from initial estimates through to final accounts. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and reviewing bills of quantities (BOQ)
  • Monitoring project costs
  • Ensuring alignment with budgets and contractual requirements
  • Cost planning, valuation of works, measurement, and preparation of interim and final cost reports

The Quantity Surveyor will work closely with project managers, site teams, and suppliers to support procurement, manage variations, and help ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget while maintaining high quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong cost management capabilities, including Cost Control, Cost Management, and Cost Planning
  • Proficiency in preparing, interpreting, and managing BOQ and related tender/contract documentation
  • Experience in Cost Reporting, including regular financial updates, forecasts, and final accounts
  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline (degree or equivalent experience)
  • Familiarity with standard construction contracts and procurement routes
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate with site teams, clients, and supply chain partners
  • Competence in using MS Office and quantity surveying or estimating software
  • Experience in education and/or commercial construction projects is beneficial
  • Ability to work on-site in Torquay and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced project environment
