The Project and Technical Designer manages projects and supports with creating compelling, innovative technical design solutions. The role combines strong technical and project vision with practical project delivery, working closely with clients, design and project teams to develop technical designs from concept through to detailed design. The Project and Technical Designer plays a key role in winning new business through exceptional design presentations and visualizations.
Roles and Responsibilities- Develop design concepts in line with client briefs and project requirements
- Produce detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation
- Coordinate with project managers, consultants, and contractors
- Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations, standards, and codes
- Support project delivery from initial concept through to installation/completion
- Conduct site visits and surveys where required
- Review and resolve technical design issues throughout the project lifecycle
- Manage revisions and updates to drawings and documentation
- Contribute to project timelines, budgets, and resource planning
- Maintain high standards of design quality and technical accuracy
- Create compelling mood boards, concept presentations, and design narratives
- Present technical design concepts to clients with confidence and enthusiasm
- Participate in client briefing meetings and design workshops
- Interpret client requirements into creative and technical design solutions
- Build strong client relationships through design excellence
- Respond to client feedback and develop designs accordingly
- Take design lead on small to medium scale projects
- Coordinate design development with project teams
- Ensure design intent is maintained throughout project delivery
- Attend project meetings and design coordination sessions
- Work with contractors to resolve design issues on site
- Conduct site visits during construction to ensure quality
- Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
- Proven experience of working with building control/fire officers
- Understanding of building regulations, relative to the commercial design

- AutoCAD – technical packs and plans
- Cross referencing sub-contractor drawings to design
- Product and specification knowledge
- Sketch up and MEP knowledge
- Understanding of materials, finishes, and furniture systems
- Proven technical skills are essential
