Our client is an international bank seeking a Data Management Officer to join its London-based IT function, supporting critical data governance and data security initiatives across the business. This is a hands-on role operating at the intersection of data, regulation, and technology, working closely with Finance, Compliance, and broader business teams to embed robust data management practices across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of group-wide data governance frameworks and standards
  • Assist in building and enhancing data quality frameworks, monitoring, and reporting mechanisms
  • Interpret and apply local regulatory requirements relating to data security and personal data protection
  • Contribute to the design and maintenance of data security controls and classification frameworks
  • Perform ongoing data security risk assessments and monitoring activities
  • Collaborate with development teams and third-party vendors to implement data security solutions
  • Define and maintain technical policies, standards, and procedures aligned with Head Office requirements
  • Support the delivery of training to staff on data governance and data security policies
  • Contribute to wider data management and transformation initiatives as required

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience within data management, data governance, or data security, ideally within financial services
  • Strong knowledge of frameworks such as NIST 800, ISO 27001, and UK regulatory expectations (PRA, FCA, ICO, GDPR)
  • Proven experience across data governance, data quality, metadata, and data security
  • Good understanding of data architecture concepts, including data lakes and data warehouses
  • Experience with data integration, migration, and reporting tools
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to solve problems independently
  • Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Prior exposure to regulatory or compliance-driven IT projects is advantageous

Language Requirements

Mandarin is essential for this role to facilitate communication with Head Office and the interpretation of regulatory documentation.
