We're looking for an experienced
Senior Java Developer to join a growing engineering team building cutting-edge post-trade technology solutions within a cloud-first environment.
This is an opportunity to work on business-critical applications, APIs, client reporting platforms and web portals while customising sophisticated trading systems used across the capital markets landscape.
You'll collaborate directly with Product, Client Services and Engineering leadership to deliver scalable, high-performance software and help shape the future direction of the platform.

The Role
You'll play a key role in designing and delivering enterprise-grade software while contributing to architectural decisions, development standards and engineering best practice.
Responsibilities include
- Designing, developing and enhancing Java-based applications, APIs and web platforms
- Customising and extending third-party trading systems
- Building scalable microservices and distributed applications
- Writing clean, maintainable, test-driven code using SOLID principles and design patterns
- Working closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Participating in architecture discussions, code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
- Mentoring and supporting developers while promoting engineering excellence
- Collaborating with global development teams and contributing to Agile delivery
- Leveraging AI tools to improve developer productivity throughout the SDLC.
About You
You'll have strong Java development experience gained within Financial Services and enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced engineering environment.
Essential Skills
- 7+ years' commercial Java development experience
- Previous experience within Financial Services ideally capital markets
- Strong Java 11+ and Spring Boot development
- Multi-threading, performance optimisation and profiling
- Experience building microservices
- TDD and automated testing (JUnit, Mockito, Spock)
- Maven and Git
- CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices
- Excellent understanding of SOLID principles, Design Patterns and Clean Code
- Strong stakeholder communication skills
- Ability to analyse complex problems and deliver practical solutions
- Capital Markets knowledge, ideally within Clearing or Prime Brokerage.
Desirable
- Previous team leadership or mentoring experience
- Knowledge of Groovy, FIX/FIXML, Fp ML, REST APIs, JSON or messaging technologies
- Experience developing client portals and reporting platforms
- Experience working with distributed or offshore development teams.
