The Opportunity

We are recruiting a Business Continuity & Operational Resilience Manager for an established international financial services organisation in London.

Sitting within the Operations function, this is a broad role combining business continuity, operational resilience and elements of operational risk management.

The successful candidate will take ownership of existing frameworks, policies and controls, with considerable scope to enhance processes, strengthen resilience and influence how these are implemented across the business.

The position offers significant interaction with senior management and stakeholders across multiple business areas.

It will suit someone who enjoys taking responsibility, working collaboratively and making practical improvements rather than simply maintaining existing policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own, maintain and enhance the organisation's Business Continuity Management (BCM) and Operational Resilience frameworks.
  • Review and develop business continuity policies, procedures and recovery plans, ensuring alignment with UK regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate Business Impact Assessments (BIAs), identifying critical processes, dependencies and recovery priorities.
  • Work closely with Operations, IT and other departments to develop effective recovery strategies and disaster recovery arrangements.
  • Identify and assess operational risks, recommend appropriate controls and monitor mitigation activities.
  • Plan and coordinate business continuity testing, scenario exercises and crisis management activities.
  • Support incident management, including post-incident reviews and implementation of improvements.
  • Work with internal stakeholders on third-party resilience, outsourcing arrangements and associated operational risks.
  • Produce management information, risk assessments and reports for senior management.
  • Promote business continuity and operational resilience awareness across the organisation.

Experience Required

  • Strong practical experience in Business Continuity Management and/or Operational Resilience within a regulated financial services environment.
  • Good understanding of UK regulatory requirements, particularly FCA and PRA expectations around operational resilience.
  • Experience developing, implementing and improving business continuity frameworks, policies and controls.
  • An appreciation of operational risk management and how this interacts with day-to-day business operations.
  • Experience coordinating business continuity testing, risk assessments and recovery planning.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage across different departments and levels of seniority.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach, with the ability to work independently and drive initiatives forward.
  • Experience within capital markets or wider financial services operations.
  • Exposure to operational risk controls, third-party risk or outsourcing oversight.
  • Experience working within an international organisation.
  • Relevant business continuity qualifications, including BCI accreditation.

The Role

This is an opportunity to take ownership of an important function with genuine scope to develop and improve existing arrangements.

Whilst business continuity and operational resilience are central to the position, its placement within Operations gives the role a wider remit, including operational risk and controls.

The organisation is looking for someone who can combine technical knowledge with a practical, commercially aware approach and who is comfortable working closely with senior stakeholders.

Please note

This is a fully office-based position, requiring attendance five days per week in London.
