A leading hedge fund wishes to recruit a data analyst who will be responsible for back office pricing as well as time series data for trading/modelling/analysis whilst working closely with other departments within Management & Control to ensure the accuracy and best practices in security valuation, compliance and risk management.
Main Responsibilities
- Contribute to the evaluation and enhancement of processes and technologies to improve data accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency.
- Engage regularly with users of financial data to identify, access, and query series of interest within internal databases, including a third-party tick database. These users include, but are not limited to, Trading, Global Research, Middle Office, Risk and Compliance.
- For new projects or data-related production changes determine detailed specifications and resource requirements and coordinate prioritization and approval with other groups.
- Test content for proper QA and review/approve for production release.
- When new data services are needed evaluate potential data sources and cost/resources.
- Collaborate with our offshore Data Operations team to oversee their processes, including cross-checking, verifying, and updating security and economic data.
- Serve as an escalation point for Level II requests from this team.
Experience Required
- A BA/BS degree with a strong academic background in STEM fields, ideally focusing on Data, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analysis, or another quantitative discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role at an investment firm or a financial data-related role at another type of firm (auditor, data vendor, govt agency, or other), with a solid understanding of data quality management, data architecture, and business intelligence.
- A good understanding of Python, including fundamental knowledge and a willingness to learn, along with familiarity with packages such as NumPy, pandas, and scikit-learn.
- Proficiency in SQL is required, along with experience in Unix and familiarity with scheduling tools like Tidal and Airflow.
- Good understanding of various asset classes such as Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, and Commodities.
