Responsibilities:
- Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems.
- Confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit.
- Discuss work with supervisor.
- Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions.
- Review work orders.
- Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems.
- Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems.
- Repair or replace mechanical units or components.
- Perform scheduled maintenance service.
- Complete reports to record problems and work performed.
- Coach and instruct apprentices.
Credentials:
- Truck and Transport Mechanic Trade Certification.
- Truck and Transport Mechanic Red Seal Endorsement.
Experience and specialization:
- Area of specialization: Brake system, Automatic transmission, Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system.
Additional information:
- Security and safety: Criminal record check, Driving record check (abstract).
- Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence.
- Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Hand-eye co-ordination, Standing for extended periods.
