Are you an HGV fleet maintenance expert with supplier management experience and a passion for compliance and efficiency in fleet operations? This is your chance to drive success in a dynamic national logistics company!
This role offers the opportunity to lead and enhance the regional performance of the fleet. Youβll champion regulatory compliance, partner with transport management teams to implement best practices, and proactively manage vendor relationships with leasing and maintenance companies, ensuring efficient and cost-effective service delivery.
The role will have an HGV engineering bias, ensuring the fleet is maintained and adheres to all legal and safety standards. The successful candidate will need strong stakeholder influencing ability to support transport management teams in delivering best-in-class performance across transport compliance. You will be able to demonstrate examples of implementing strategies that enhance people, operational performance, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage relationships with external service providers (leasing companies, insurers, maintenance suppliers).
- Negotiate contracts and service agreements; monitor supplier performance.
- Ensure all fleet operations in your region comply with operator license, DVSA, and HSE regulations.
- Maintain the fleet to legal and safety standards while managing costs effectively.
- Influence stakeholders to achieve top-tier transport compliance.
- Implement strategies to enhance performance, safety, and customer satisfaction.
- Conduct regular audits, manage driver safety, and deliver training programmes.
- Supervise and support the fleet team and compliance administrator.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience and knowledge of HGV repairs, ideally gained in a workshop environment.
- Strong stakeholder management and people skills.
- Experience in commercially driven environments.
- Knowledge of transport compliance.
- National CPC holder (desirable).
- Ideally β experience in central transport functions and transport management systems (TMS).
- Ideally β strong process improvement skills.
- Member of IRTE or Association of Road Risk Managers (desirable).
