MVP is partnering with a progressive, multiple-award-winning logistics business to recruit a Transport Manager to join their team at a busy distribution centre in Northamptonshire.
As Transport Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day transport operation on site, ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and efficiency.
Working closely with your team, the wider site function, and senior leadership, you’ll help drive continuous improvement, support team development, and deliver excellent service while maximising operational performance.
What you’ll be doing
- Manage the day-to-day transport operation, making sure service levels, budgets, KPIs, and customer expectations are achieved.
- Lead and support the transport team, helping people perform well, feel engaged, and continue to develop.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, compliance, and best practice across the operation.
- Manage transport costs and performance, working with senior managers to meet agreed financial targets.
- Look for ways to improve processes, systems, and ways of working to support a more efficient operation.
- Work closely with operations, planning, and commercial teams to keep activity aligned across the site.
- Promote the company’s values through your leadership style and decision-making.
- Build positive working relationships across the business and with external partners.
What we’re looking for
- Experience managing a site-based transport operation, ideally within a 3PL environment.
- A confident people leader who can support, develop, and get the best from a transport team.
- Good commercial awareness, with experience managing costs, budgets, service levels, and operational performance.
- National CPC qualification and a sound understanding of transport legislation and compliance.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work effectively across the wider site and stakeholder group.
- A proactive, hands-on approach, with the ability to identify improvements and make positive changes.
- IOSH, NEBOSH, or Safe Systems of Work training would be beneficial.
