Director β FP&A Advisory | Office of the CFO
Location: London
Level: Director
Practice: Transaction Advisory Services / Office of the CFO
MVA International is supporting a leading global financial advisory firm with the appointment of a Director β FP&A Advisory within its growing Office of the CFO / Transaction Advisory Services practice.
This is a senior advisory role focused on helping private equity sponsors and PE-backed portfolio companies build, improve and mature their FP&A capabilities.
We are particularly interested in candidates who offer a combination of top-tier advisory experience and genuine in-house FP&A experience β someone who understands the advisory environment but has also sat within a business and experienced the challenges faced by a CFO and finance function first-hand.
The Role
You will work directly with CFOs, finance leadership teams, private equity sponsors and portfolio companies, helping businesses strengthen their FP&A capabilities and improve the quality of financial information used to make strategic decisions.
Assignments are likely to include:
- Building and improving FP&A functions
- Budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning
- Management reporting and KPI development
- Financial and operational performance analysis
- Scenario planning and decision support
- Developing financial models for planning and forecasting purposes
- Improving reporting, processes, systems and data
- Supporting CFOs through periods of rapid growth and transformation
- Helping PE-backed businesses professionalise and mature their finance functions
- Supporting businesses preparing for increased investor scrutiny or potential public-market readiness
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Previous experience within a Big Four, leading accounting or advisory firm
- Meaningful in-house FP&A / finance-function experience
- Experience working with private equity sponsors and/or PE-backed portfolio companies
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and financial planning
- Experience improving or transforming FP&A functions
- The ability to operate credibly with CFOs, CEOs and PE stakeholders
- Strong commercial and business-development capabilities
- The network and credibility to help originate work and build a growing advisory offering
This is not primarily a valuation or transaction-modelling position. We are looking for someone whose modelling experience sits within a broader FP&A, business planning and CFO advisory skill set.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
This is an opportunity to join a growing advisory platform and play an important role in the development of its Office of the CFO / FP&A offering.
The successful individual will have the opportunity to work alongside senior leadership, develop relationships across the private equity market and help build a differentiated FP&A advisory capability.
For someone who has built their career across both advisory and in-house FP&A, this provides the opportunity to bring those two perspectives together and help CFOs and PE-backed businesses improve the way they plan, forecast and manage performance.
