To provide high-quality psychological assessment, formulation, intervention, and consultation services to individuals experiencing emotional, behavioural, mental health, or developmental difficulties. The Clinical Psychologist will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, families, carers, and external agencies to promote positive outcomes and psychological wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments using interviews, psychometric tests, observations, and review of records.
  • Develop evidence-based psychological formulations to understand presenting difficulties.
  • Deliver individual, group, and family-based psychological interventions.
  • Design and implement treatment plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate treatment outcomes, adjusting interventions as required.

Therapeutic Services

  • Provide evidence-based therapies such as:
    • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
    • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
    • Trauma-informed interventions
    • Systemic and family therapies
  • Support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioural difficulties, neurodevelopmental disorders, and other mental health conditions.

Consultation and Multidisciplinary Working

  • Work collaboratively with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, support workers, and other professionals.
  • Provide psychological consultation and advice to staff, carers, and partner agencies.
  • Contribute to care planning and risk management processes.

Risk Assessment and Safeguarding

  • Undertake risk assessments relating to self-harm, suicide, abuse, neglect, and challenging behaviour.
  • Participate in safeguarding procedures and child/adult protection processes.
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with professional and legal requirements.

Training and Supervision

  • Provide training and psychoeducation to staff, families, and carers.
  • Offer clinical supervision to assistant psychologists, trainees, and other staff where appropriate.
  • Support the development of psychologically informed services.

Service Development and Research

  • Participate in service evaluation, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to research projects and implementation of evidence-based practice.
  • Assist in developing policies, procedures, and clinical pathways.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy or equivalent).
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Eligibility for membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • Post-qualification experience working with relevant client groups.

Desirable

  • Additional specialist training in evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
  • Experience in leadership, supervision, or service development.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary healthcare settings.
