Role: Principal Consultant
Location: Hybrid - 3 days working in London Waterloo office / 2 days home / client site
Salary: £70,000 - £85,000 plus benefits (depending on experience) and discretionary bonus
Contract Type: Full-Time Permanent

The role:
Working independently or as part of a team, our Principal Consultants lead multiple projects and project teams at any one time, demonstrating strategic leadership with a focus on a particular service area or market. A key focus of the Principal Consultant role developing strong and sustained working relationships with senior clients.
Responsibilities:
Principal Consultants are expected to meet the reasonable requirements of any project, but typical tasks and responsibilities include:
• Managing the implementation of public sector reform and transformation projects / programmes.
• Developing strong and sustained working relationships with senior clients (Director and above), building confidence and trust.
• Leading the development of major services and/or solutions.
• Originating new, pro-active business opportunities and selling services to new and existing clients.
• Leading the development of the approach/methodology/delivery plan content of large bids.
• Leading the process of identifying and brokering successful, productive working relationships with partners.
• Demonstrating well developed influencing skills and showing tact and judgement in guiding senior clients and partners.
• Providing effective line management to multiple, more junior members of the team; acting as a coach and mentor.
• Providing final quality assurance on work carried out by other team members, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
• Supporting the creation of thought leadership materials and presentations.
• Contributing to the wider success of the company e.g. through supporting our business planning process, the development of new offers/markets and working on our internal team culture development.
• Contributing to internal projects and activities.
About you
We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for public services with the following skills, experience and attitudes:
• Demonstrable public sector consulting experience of (5-10 years’ experience preferred) leading and delivering multiple projects and project teams.
• A minimum 2:2 degree in any discipline.
• Track record of building successful relationships with senior clients and delivery partners.
• Experience of delivering strategic advice to senior clients, supporting them to deliver strategic transformation programmes.
• Well-developed networking, influencing and business development skills, including leading successful bids and proposals.
• An ability to interpret complex data (both hard and soft data, including numerical and statistical information).
• Well-developed leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.
• Advanced facilitation and presenting skills.
• An ability to deal positively with change and prioritise and manage simultaneous demands.
• Sharp on detail, creative and intellectually curious.
• Act with honesty and integrity.

• Be comfortable with travel and overnight stays within the UK.
