The Role

We’re looking for a supportive, proactive and learner-focused Progression and Pastoral Lead to join our team.

In this role, you’ll guide learners through their time with us, helping them plan their next steps, supporting their personal wellbeing, and making sure they have everything they need to succeed and move forward with confidence.

You will also lead on our work experience and social impact delivery strand - engaging young people in careers in the creative industries.

What You’ll Be Doing

Progression Support

• Lead on initial assessments to understand each learner’s starting point, goals and support needs.
• Hold regular 1:1 mid-point and end-point reviews in person and online to check progress, celebrate achievements and update progression plans.
• Offer practical career support, eg CV writing, job search help, and interview preparation.
• Actively seek out and signpost learners to relevant progression opportunities - whether that’s employment, freelance work or other opportunities.
• Conduct regular check-ins with learners post-programme to achieve their progression aims & inform them of opportunities provided by MUTI such as webinars & networking events.
• Arrange online bookable meetings with learners and teaching staff.
• Keep accurate records of progression activities, collect progression evidence and track where learners go next after their programme.
• Build relationships with local sector employers and providers to expand progression routes and opportunities.
• Review and improve internal systems and processes in liaison with the relevant members of the organisation
• Keep abreast of industry trends and developments in order to ensure we are compliant but also at the cutting edge of skills development and training in-sector

Pastoral Support

• Be a friendly and trusted first point of contact for learners needing personal support or advice.
• Deliver one-to-one guidance and occasional group sessions on wellbeing, resilience, mental health, safeguarding and life skills.
• Signpost or refer learners to external services when extra help is needed.
• Keep clear records of any pastoral support provided and follow safeguarding procedures at all times.

Learner Engagement

• Promote a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Encourage learners to share their views and ideas through surveys, check-ins and learner voice activities.
• Work with the wider team to improve attendance, punctuality, and learner motivation.
• Work Experience/ Social Value
• Continue with, and expand, our package of work experience opportunities and support for young people
• Organise a series of creative activities for families/ carers of young people to engage with the creative industries

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in a pastoral, learner support, or progression-focused role within education, training, or youth work.
• Strong understanding of progression pathways - especially the local Bristol events and creative scenes and employment routes, as well as national job websites.
• Confident supporting learners of all ages with a range of personal and educational needs.
• Great communicator - friendly, approachable, and able to build strong relationships.
• Organised and able to manage your own large caseload of learners.
• Confident using IT systems and recording data accurately.
• Previous experience of working with safeguarding and prevent policies & procedures
• Confident as an ambassador for the company’s work in external settings and meetings

• Relevant qualification either in teaching, coaching or working with young adults
• Experience working with learners or individuals with barriers to learning.
• Understanding of government-funded programmes (e. g. ESFA, AEB, apprenticeships).
• Understanding of different learning styles - both for mainstream learners and those with neurodivergent or other needs.
• Teaching or Facilitation experience with groups of adult learners.
