Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Food & Beverage Manager to lead our dining operations as both Head of Department (HoD) and Duty Manager. This pivotal role demands a hands-on leader with a passion for hospitality, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to inspire excellence across service, culinary standards, and guest experience.
You will oversee all aspects of food and beverage service, ensuring smooth daily operations, compliance with health and safety regulations, and a consistently high standard of delivery. As a Duty Manager, you will also represent senior management during shifts, responding to operational needs and guest concerns with professionalism and authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Food & Beverage department as HoD, setting standards and driving performance.
- Act as Duty Manager on a rota basis, ensuring operational continuity and guest satisfaction.
- Supervise daily service across restaurant, bar, and events, maintaining compliance with hygiene and safety protocols.
- Ensure consistency and quality of food served from the kitchen.
- Manage inventory and ordering to support efficient production and cost control.
- Recruit, train, and develop staff in service, culinary techniques, and customer care.
- Collaborate with kitchen and events teams to deliver innovative menus and successful functions.
- Handle guest enquiries and complaints with empathy and professionalism.
- Monitor departmental financial performance, including budgeting and payroll ratios.
- Create and manage rotas aligned with business demands, ensuring proper absence procedures.
- Conduct regular audits of service, cleanliness, and quality.
- Uphold food safety standards and maintain pristine dining and kitchen environments.
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in a similar role within hospitality, ideally in hotels or restaurants.
- Strong supervisory background with a track record of effective team leadership.
- Familiarity with barista practices and front-of-house service is essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Deep understanding of food safety regulations and operational compliance.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and lead by example.
